What do you imagine when you hear the word ‘education’ or ‘teaching’?It literally means instructing and raising children, giving lessons to students, and showing or telling someone how to do something in everyday life.Those who do these educational activities must have knowledge and skills to do them in an appropriate way.In every stage of our life, there is always ‘education’.We could say that our daily life is founded on mutual teaching activities.Education is closely connected with a great deal of things indispensable to our life.

Recognizing various educational issues today from the broad viewpoint mentioned above, we consider educational matters and put them into practice.Our college is an institution not only for pre-service teachers but also for those who would like to acquire comprehensive knowledge and skills for education-related disciplines.You can acquireand research essential and practical knowledge and skills:

1) to become teachers for kindergartens, elementary schools, junior and senior high schools.
2) to become informed of issues of recent Information-Cultural Studies.
3) to become education-related professionals.

-------The History and the Organization

The college of Education was established on May 31, 1949 with the foundation of Ibaraki University.For over a half of a century we have been fostering teachers, those who work for education and a variety of professionals in the society.The college consists of the following four courses, four affiliate schools, and a research center. The students are organized into the four courses and the graduate school.
